Phyllis specializes in Western Mountain and Desert Landscape Quilted
Wall Hangings. She uses her own hand-dyed fabrics for sky and
mountains. All of her pieces are one of a kind, Original Art Designs.
She never repeats a quilt and none are made into kits. The workshops
she teaches encourage original designs. Many of her pieces include
hand as well as machine embroidery on the flowers in the foreground.
Machine thread painting is also used on trees and foliage. Beads,
three-dimensional fabrics, trapunto, and many other enhancements
add interest, textures, and sparkle to the landscapes.

Many of her wall hangings include horses, birds, and wild animals
such as bear, deer, elk, moose, wolves, etc. Alaska is one of her
favorite places. The expanse of the huge mountains and abundance
of wildlife there has had a great influence on her work. Although she
loves the mountain scenery, she also does many desert scenes with
blooming cactus and desert animals. Special commissions, banners
for churches, and custom designs for clothing are also available.
